A Call for the Restoration of the Republic

After much reflection on this July 4th, it seems that it has come time for citizens of this Republic to stand up and demand a restoration of the Republic. The Republic of Texas. I spent time reflecting on the Declaration of Independence of the United States yesterday and it dawned on me that Texas also had a Declaration of Independence. I read both of them. That led to the review of the Texas State Constitution which opens with our State Bill of Rights. In reading each of these documents it astounds me how un-educated I am and how complacent this state and country has become. If you read the grievances in each Declaration it becomes painfully obvious that we are tolerating the very same grievances that our founders sacrificed so much to insure that their descendants would not need to endure. Yet here we set in our comfortable homes oblivious to the erosion of our Liberty. Our elected representatives swear their allegiance to uphold and defend documents most have never read nor understand. During the elections there are no longer debates over these issues it is merely shouting matches by the uneducated decrying ‘racism’ or complaining if we only had control of all three branches then we could effect change. Oh the peril on the horizon is great.

The very principles of a Republic are almost completely gone. There are many sources of what one would consider principles of well functioning Republic but for argument sake I will stick to the 28 outlined in The 5000 Year Leap. It is not necessary to review all 28 to see where we are off course. We only need to look a few key ones.

First a people cannot remain free unless they remain virtuous and morally strong. Second they must elect Virtuous and Moral Leaders. You would be hard pressed to make a case that either in this state or country we are exhibiting either principle. It is hard to maintain either if you are uneducated on another principle. The best foundation for a Republic is Natural Law and Natural Rights. When asked about either most are embarrassingly silent. So much of the discourse now is about free stuff or taking from those that have to give to those that have-not i.e. Social Justice. All of this stems I believe from one root. A very important principle. A free society cannot maintain a Republic without a strong Public Education. We no longer have the vocabulary or the understanding of the principles taught anywhere.

In order to solidify my supposition let’s look at a few facts demonstrating the erosion of our Liberty.

At the Federal Level:

We have a President that has sworn an Oath in Public twice to defend and uphold the Supreme Law of the Land, the Constitution.

In six years he has frequently publicly stated he will un-Constitutionally act without the consent of Congress (i.e. the People’s Representatives)

The President has either intentionally directed or negligently allowed his appointees to violate the Natural Rights of the Citizens of the State of Texas and the United States

Example one: It is a matter of public record his Justice Department illegally directed the trafficking of weapons across the Texas Southern border which wound up in the hands of drug cartels and were used to kill an American citizen

Example two: It is a matter of public record that his Internal Revenue Service has targeted Texans to suppress their right to Free Speech

Example three: It is a matter of Public Record that he is now using his Department of Health and Human Services and the Internal Revenue Service to force the purchase of Health Insurance. A blatant violation of the Constitution.

Example four: His Internal Revenue Service is illegally confiscating the property of Texans in the form of Tax Dollars to allow the State Department and Department of Defense to re-distribute them to sworn enemies of this country, The Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda.

Example five: Unnecessarily endangering and sacrificing the lives of Texans w/ ludicrous military rules of engagement in a time of war.

Example six: BLATANT Refusal to uphold Article IV Section 4 of the United States Constitution
The United States SHALL guarantee to every state in this Union a republican form of government, and SHALL protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

It is Public Record that the President knowingly allows Radical Jihadis to cross the Southern Border along with Drug Cartel Gang members.

All this takes place as our Federal Congress ignores the petitions of Legal Citizens to end this violation of Natural Rights.

Under the form of Federalism that our Founders bequeathed to us we were to have two forms of protection in cases of infringement of our rights. Either the Federal Government or the State Government. It is now time for us to take that promissory note (our State Bill of Rights) to our State Government and demand that they act to restore our God given Liberties before it is too late.

It is this proposal that I would make to all and am intending to undertake. We need to aggressively educate ourselves and force the education or our elected State and Local Representatives in the Principles of ‘Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness’ before they are gone. Once this education is started we also must hold them accountable to their oath. It is impossible to effect change at the Federal Level if your local government is out of control. It is time for all Texans to demand that our Liberties that were purchased at such a high cost be restored without further delay. If this current bunch of elected representatives proves unable or unwilling to achieve those ends then it is incumbent upon us to re-read our Declarations of Independence for what direction to take next!

Here is the first word that needs to be understood:

Violation of allegiance toward one’s country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one’s country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.

A betrayal of trust or confidence.

In modern times the faint of heart shy away from such harsh terms but if you refuse to see what is in front of you and refuse to name acts for what they are you have already ceded ground to the enemy and potentially loose the battle of ideas before it has started.

I close with two thoughts from great men of the past:

“Politics ought to be a part time profession of every citizen who would protect the rights and privileges of free people.” – – – Dwight D. Eisenhower

“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. If we’re to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed.” – – – Thomas Jefferson
